We have some exciting news to share!
Back in May 2022 we announced that we had begun the process of getting B Corp certified.
Well, we are now so excited and pleased to announce that we have achieved B Corp certification.
B Corp, short for Benefit Corporation, is a special designation given to companies that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. It was started and led by B Lab, a not for profit who has a mission to to redefine success in business and promote a global movement where companies use their power and influence to create a more sustainable and equitable world.
So, for us, a for-profit business, this means running the company is about more than just making profit. It’s about truly making a positive impact. On people. On the planet. And in everything we do.
As a business, and now as a B Corp certified business, we make decisions that consider all our stakeholders – our employees, the community we operate in, and the environment we all share.
Well, it matters because we believe that businesses can and absolutely should be a force for good.
By being a B Corp, we’re part of a global movement of companies striving to create a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable world. We feel strongly about this, and we do what we do to make a positive impact on people and organisations we interact with.
For the Cynozure crew it means they’re all working for a company that values them as individuals, their well-being, their future and promotes a positive, inclusive, and flexible work environment.
For our community and customers, it demonstrates that by collaborating with us you’re not just consuming a service; you’re working with a company that’s dedicated to positive business practices, one that prioritises your success and that decisions we make and the work we do is guided by more than just profitability.
The process itself to gain certification means that we’ve undergone a rigorous evaluation to demonstrate our commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
It required to be measured against the governance of the business, the way we enrich the lives of our team, how additive we are to our community, the environment around us and importantly the positive impact we have on customers. We ended up with a score of 101.6 after a number of rounds of review, validation and provision of evidence to the certification team at B Lab. This is an incredible score that we are proud of and aim to maintain and grow.
So, by becoming a B Corp it’s a recognition of the positive impact we’re making and our dedication to being a business that cares.
This is a truly significant milestone for us. We’re dedicated to our purpose of ‘data, for a better tomorrow’ and this certification is another step forward aligned to that purpose.
Whilst B Corp gives us a fantastic framework to measure ourselves by, hold ourselves to account and the recognition that we strive to uphold such high standards, this isn’t actually about certification.
This is about being a business that’s a force for good. One that is innovative, ambitious and looking to grow and run a business differently. With a different mindset and approach to ones that have come before it. One that wont do anything for profit, but take proper consideration of how our decisions impact all stakeholders.
We will now be working on our plan to continually and iteratively improve the impact we make and the score we get. We will be re-certified in 3 years and our plan is to increase our score and demonstrate our commitment to the cause.
Thank you to all of you who have interacted, engaged, and collaborated with us. Thank you for being part of our journey.
We’re looking forward to continue working together to create a world we can all be proud of, through the application of data and analytics.
